Have you ever delighted your senses with the aroma of chocolate mint? Freshly picked, this herb smells like York Peppermint Patties, and it tastes delicious too. Subtle hints of cocoa and vanilla are accented with the stronger smell of mint. Guests who stay with us during the summer months will enjoy chocolate mint on select breakfast items as the warm weather is the best growing time for this culinary herb.
Gramercy’s Kitchen Gardens
We grow over 20 plants and herbs in our kitchen gardens to ensure that herbs and spices used in our made-to-order breakfasts are as tasteful as possible. Other herbs, including basil, thai basil, mint, oregano, thyme, sage, and more, are also grown right on the grounds of our very own, Koinonia Organic Farm, the oldest organic farm in Maryland. You can follow walking trails at Gramercy that lead you to parts of our farm.
What Else Can You Use Chocolate Mint for?
Have a sweet tooth? Leaves can add flavor to various flavors of ice cream and custards. When making cocktails that call for traditional mint, change it up by using chocolate mint to add that light cocoa aroma. Learn more about how to grow this herb and what else you can use it for by clicking here.
