The Stonewall riots were a series of spontaneous demonstrations by members of the gay community in response to a police raid that began on June 28, 1969 in New York City.
The uprising at the Stonewall Inn in June 1969 sparked a liberation movement — a call to action that continues to inspire us to live up to our Nation’s promise of equality, liberty, and justice for all. Pride is a time to recall the trials that the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) community has endured and to rejoice in the triumphs of trailblazing individuals who have bravely fought — and continue to fight — for full equality.
Pride is both a jubilant communal celebration of visibility and a personal celebration of self-worth and dignity. The first Pride march in New York City was held on June 28, 1970, on the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising!
Join us this Pride month as we go down memory lane and re-visit some of our favorite LGBTQ+ couples! From small intimate ceremonies to large gatherings, Gramercy Mansion has the capability to celebrate your love however you want. All are safe and welcome here.
Ryan & Kenny
Last month, we had a show stopping wedding at the Mansion! Ryan and Kenny had to postpone their wedding because of the pandemic but ended up being able to have everything they wanted! Restrictions were lifted and the rain was just enough to keep the cicadas away but still allow for an outdoor ceremony!
Keep your eyes peeled for more photos to come from their 1930s inspired evening. It was definitely a night to remember!
Gia and Alex
A beautifully intimate ceremony performed by Weddings by Jenna during the height of the pandemic brought us back to the roots of what a wedding is truly about. The love shared between partners.
Quietly tucked away at the marble gazebo with no guests, Gia and Alex exchanged “I Dos” and “I Love Yous” together. They are scheduled to have a full reception in 2022 and we cannot wait to celebrate with them again!
Paul and Scott
Paul and Scott’s big day couldn’t have been more magical if they had tried! Complete with a first look in the Carriage House gardens and an indoor ceremony in the atrium, it was picture perfect from the start! They caught the November golden hour for photos and had a sparkler exit to end the night!
Jen and Beth
Even though all eyes were on Jen and Beth for their big day, the stunning Carriage House gardens were still a lovely backdrop! After sealing their vows with a kiss, it was time to celebrate with delicious food and a champagne toast!
Dante and Brian
Dante and Brian held their beautifully coordinated wedding at the Mansion a few years ago and we still can’t get over it! The luxurious chairs at the sweethearts table complete with Mr. and Mr. place settings really pulled everything together.
