Aging from a Christian Standpoint
A Seminar Series Presented by Sister Carol Clare Czyzewski
Please join us for a moving and inspirational series of seminars at Gramercy Mansion presented by our special guest.
Followers of Jesus Christ are called to live in faith during all stages of life. This series of reflection days aims to deepen one’s faith through a focus on the later years of life.
Participants will consider the scriptural, sacramental, and communal dimensions of aging. Each day’s agenda will include the speaker’s presentation, prayer, silence, and group discussion based on the day’s theme.
Monday, September 10, 2012, 4 – 6 p.m., Wisdom and The Cross
The wisdom of God – Jesus Christ – leads us to the folly of the cross. How can faith help us to make sense of the sufferings in life?
Monday, October 8, 2012, 4 – 6 p.m., Joy and Change
Joy conveys confidence in the teachings of Jesus. How can our embrace of Jesus’ good news free us to die to self, to change?
Monday, November 12, 2012, 4—6 p.m., Simplicity and Loss
The virtue of simplicity centers believers on the truth that “all is grace, all is gift.” How can this holy perspective inform our approach to illness or death?
Monday, December 10, 2012, 4—6 p.m., Love and Humility
The love of God, revealed in the incarnation and life of Jesus, identifies “who I am as a human person.” How can this mystery clarify the virtue of humility that aging requires?
Seminar Cost: $15 per person/per seminar or $55 per person/entire series
