Celebrate the 200th anniversary of our National Anthem at its birth place this summer. Visit Baltimore for the free Star-Spangled Spectacular Festival, September 10 – 16, 2014, featuring Tall ships, Navy ships, Blue Angels, history demonstrations, concerts, regional food and drink, and an amazing fireworks display over Fort McHenry!
The excitement doesn’t stop in the city… our neighbors at Stevenson University are hosting a Star-Spangled Salute on Wednesday, Sept 10.
1:30 p.m. – Screening of Anthem, a documentary about the people and events that shaped the Star-Spangled Banner by Maryland independent filmmaker Mark Hildebrand.
7:30 p.m. – An American Salute: Music of our Nation, Baltimore county’s musical tribute to the bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
Check out a few of our favorite patriotic places around town:
- Star-Spangled Banner Museum and Flaghouse
- Carroll Museums – The historic Carroll Mansion and Phoenix Shot Tower
- American Visionary Art Museum
- Washington Monument and Mt. Vernon Place
