Cristin has been the manager at Gramercy Mansion for over 25 years, and with a degree in International Business and a minor in Management, the job is a natural fit. She is the fifth of six children and the youngest daughter of Anne and Ron Pomykala. Her affinity for traveling took her around the world – living in Florida, backpacking through Europe, skiing in Colorado, and exploring the Caribbean, before returning to Gramercy. Alexander and Julia, two of her three children, are Event Specialists at the Mansion. Get to know Cristin by reading below!
What is it like working in the family business?
My mom and I think very similarly, and it’s a great thing to get to work alongside her. I’m a bit of a workaholic, but I truly enjoy what I do. Being one of six children, getting to see my parents each day is something I’m very grateful for.
Where is your favorite place that you’ve traveled to thus far?
One of my passions is traveling, which makes it very difficult to choose a favorite place, especially because in each place you visit, you get to experience different things. I don’t think I can choose a favorite, but I am looking forward to continuing exploring new destinations. Next on my list, hopefully, is Hawaii.
How have you seen wedding trends change over the years?
Couples are still coming here for a garden atmosphere, so that has always been the same. But we don’t see as many traditions anymore, such as the bouquet or garter toss. Bistro lights are very trendy right now, and we see photo booths a lot. Another change is many couples want the ceremony and reception in one location.
What are some of your favorite things to do in your free time?
When the summer months roll around, I enjoy being by the pool in the evenings. I watch Criminal Minds every Wednesday and enjoy a good glass of wine, with my favorite being Santa Margherita’s Pinot Grigio.
