There’s nothing more beautiful than a garden or beach wedding ceremony this time of year. But we all know Maryland weather can be unpredictable. Plan for every scenario and keep summer wedding guests cool and comfortable with these five tips.
1. Provide a pre-ceremony refreshment station.
Keep guests hydrated before the ceremony begins with flavored waters served from pretty glass urns in rustic mason jars. Flavored lemonade and iced tea are also refreshing beverage choices on a hot summer day.
2. Escape the heat with plenty of shade.
Scope out your outdoor venue during the same time of day your ceremony is planned for. Look for areas with natural shade or inquire about options to create your own with tents and umbrellas.
3. Treat guests to cool and cooling favors and programs.
DIY program fans, parasols for the ladies and hats for the gents, sunglasses, flip flops… there are countless fun and functional favor ideas for outdoor wedding guests.
4. Set up a comfort station.
Fill metal tubs or wicker baskets with essentials for keeping your guests comfortable. Think bug spray, sun screen and cool towels.
5. Have a backup plan.
Eek! “Rain” – a word no bride wants to hear! But having a rain plan is a must. Whether reserving a tent on standby or booking a wedding venue with outdoor and indoor options, be comfortable with your backup plan for a stress-free wedding day, regardless of what Mother Nature has in store.
