At Gramercy, we’re thankful for the variety of events our guests bring to the mansion as they fill it with wonderful memories! These events include seminars, weddings, private parties – even photo-shoots and today, we’re sharing a June engagement shoot in our gardens. Here’s a little back-story so you can get to know Liz & Jay, who by the way, are a perfect example of how to have fun!
Liz & Jay’s Engagement
“Jay and I met on a Saturday afternoon in January 2015. I stopped by Chick-fil-A for lunch and while I was waiting for my order, I noticed a tall, handsome man in the corner of the restaurant stand up and start choking. As an ICU nurse, my instincts kicked in and I rushed over and gave him the Heimlich maneuver. Once he was free from choking, he said he had been having a chicken nugget-eating contest with his best friend and it had obviously gone awry. He thanked me for saving his life and offered to take me out to dinner to show his gratitude. We’ve been together ever since … just kidding! We actually met on Match.com, but when we were first dating and I was accompanying Jay to his high school reunion, this story was much more fun to tell!
We got engaged this past New Year’s Eve. Jay conspired with his aforementioned friend to pull me aside during a party we were hosting at our Hampden apartment to propose. He surprised me (and all of our guests), and turned our New Years Eve shindig into an impromptu engagement party with all of our close friends there to celebrate.
We hit the ground running with wedding planning, and while Gramercy was only the second venue we saw, we could instantly picture our wedding reception there. It’s a gorgeous venue with a warm, welcoming vibe, and we loved the character in each room of the mansion. Our scheduled date is November 25, 2017 – the ceremony will be at Loyola Blakefield Chapel, with the reception at Gramercy. We were excited to take advantage of the beautiful gardens as a backdrop for our engagement pictures. We had a great time exploring the grounds with our photographer, Lauren!”

Lauren Daue is a wedding and portrait photographer in the Baltimore area. She’s been in the business for over five years now and is thrilled to love her career so much. Lauren is also a wife and mother to two girls, Maggie and Winnie.
