Spring is in the air and romance is in full bloom. If you’re planning to say “I do” this year, check out our five favorite wedding trends of 2016.
- “Rustic Chic.” Oh yes! We absolutely love this wedding trend because we do it so well at Gramercy Mansion. Rustic settings have been popular for the past few seasons as couples have opted for farm and backyard ceremonies and receptions. Recently, we’re seeing added pops of elegance with twinkling crystal chandeliers indoors and out, lounge areas with vintage seating, metallic accents and intricate china place settings.
- Farm-to-table cuisine and decor. Couples are choosing menus that incorporate fresh local, sustainable and artisanal ingredients and carrying that theme throughout the reception. Sprigs of fresh herbs adorning escort cards, centerpieces and bouquets highlighted by seasonal berries, and gourmet popsicles made with locally-sourced ingredients – the opportunities for incorporating farm-to-table elements are endless.
- Vibrant color. Neutral colors like creams and pale green have been big for the past few seasons and continue to trend along with metallics. Couples are beginning to add pops of bold color as well. Subtle pastels and florals are big for spring. Look for bright yellows and oranges during the summer season. Incorporate pops of color with wedding party gowns and accessories, florals, up-lighting and pipe and drape.
- Personalization. The widespread popularity of Pinterest and DIY wedding projects has inspired countless couples to add special touches that speak of their unique personalities and relationship. Does the groom enjoy a good cigar? A hand-rolled cigar bar doubles as entertainment and a unique favor. Was your first date at a local vineyard? Arrange a local wine and artisanal cheese pairing station. Have you traveled the world together? We love these table cards with a “love around the world” theme. Take this opportunity to highlight your personalities.
- Entertainment. Couples are going all out to treat guests to an unforgettable experience. Traditional string trios during the ceremony and professional d.j.’s to keep the party rolling are always in fashion. Unexpected surprises like a full choir performing a contemporary favorite for the bride’s entrance, a serenading Mariachi band during cocktail hour, or a karaoke after party are fun and exciting elements that are sure to keep your guests talking long after your big day.
