From a whimsical mad hatter’s tea party to a charming southern barbecue all the way back to an elegant black tie affair, here at the mansion we have seen events of almost every type. Bold or neutral colors, tall arrangements or small touches of flowers, short dresses, long dresses…each wedding and party is vastly different from the next. These touches and themes are what makes each occasion here special. Our couples put pieces of themselves and their lives into their wedding day.
When such an important, personal milestone comes around in your life, you want to make sure every detail is perfection. That is why we have chosen Baltimore’s best wedding vendors to take that stress off your hands and ensure your party is done right. Recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to chat with the women behind the magic. Lindsay and Jane boast years of experience in the wedding world and incomparable culinary experience. (Lindsay even runs her own food blog- get those taste buds watering and check it out here!)
Check out my conversation with Lindsay below:
-What is your favorite part of working in the wedding industry?
Being a part of someone’s most special day of their lives! Seeing the bride & grooms face as they first enter the reception and watching all of the planning unfold makes what we do so so special.
-Why did you start doing weddings?
I actually had no idea what I was jumping into. I started off as an assistant while paving my way through culinary school. I was helping out in the office, and before I knew it I was selling, planning, and executing weddings within my first two weeks. I knew after my first wedding it was what I was made to do. I also knew after my first wedding that tennis shoes would soon become my new best friend.
-What makes Sascha’s catering so special?
Sascha’s truly is a scratch base catering company, which really shines through our food. Jane and I (Lindsay) play a huge role in menu development. We both have extensive food backgrounds, so it makes the process even more special for our couples.
-Any advice for brides and grooms who are currently planning their wedding?
Guests come first! Before you start planning your wedding, figure how many guests to anticipate. This will have a big say on many of wedding planning decisions.
-Is there one event you’ve done at Gramercy that stands out as particularly special for you?
Oh gosh, the hardest question yet. There have been so many memorable weddings at Gramercy. We did a wedding at the Carriage House with a total guest count of – get ready for this – NINE people. We’ve also done a wedding themed Alice and Wonderland and if you’re an imaginative person, just let your mind wander. One of my favorite weddings was in September 2015. It was a stations wedding and we did stations in unique places throughout the mansion. It was one of the weddings at the end of the night where you couldn’t think of one thing you would have done differently. It’s always a good feeling at the end of the wedding when you say “I love my job….still.” Wink wink.
